QUEER TRAGEDIES (Strella and Chrysippos)

The re-usage of ancient Greek myths in Modern Greek art and theatre is primarily ideological. This lecture will discuss two queer approaches to Greek myth, Panos Koutras' Strella and Dimitris Dimitriadis' Chrysippos, in order to argue that queer reading are not only legal, but can also function as anti-paradigms against the canon of the cultural usurpation of national "heritages".
